Hello! My name is Katy, and I love creating Theater!
Some of my fondest childhood memories include dressing up for trips with Grandma to see Christmas titles every year. I made the change from audience to participant my Freshman year of high school, where I started as a stitcher and dresser, and by the end of the year was an Assistant Stage Manager. After I was “promoted” to Stage Manager my sophomore year, it was hard to keep me away!
I currently attend the University of Minnesota Duluth, where I am seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and Production, emphasizing my studies in Stage Management. I expect to graduate in May of 2025.
In May-August 2024, I worked with The Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, New York as an Apprentice for their Safety Department. My work focused in a wide array of tasks, ranging from company-wide policy research and implementation, to maintaining adequate drinking-water supply at the multiple buildings on campus.
After graduation, I aim for employment in all avenues of Theatrical Production. I have goals of working in touring, entertainment, and youth productions.
As a Stage Manager, I aim to find connection. I have found that in every production I have worked on, I have had a smoother process when I am able to connect with the work, with colleagues, and with myself. I wish to collaborate with other artists in order to produce live art, but I also wish for that collaboration to have meaning. I will never sacrifice my core values and goals for the sake of the work, because I believe that these are what make me an approachable, empathetic, and intuitive Stage Manager and theatre-maker.
Outside of a rehearsal room I enjoy creating art in all mediums, experiencing nature, being with friends and family, and at the end of the night getting to eat a mega bowl of chocolate ice cream paired with a big glob of peanut butter.
